9:00-9:30 AM: Welcome, introductions, and getting acquainted.


9:30-11:00 AM: Joyce Sweeney – Once around The Plot Clock: Give your WIP a roadmap for success.


11:00-11:15 AM: Break


11:15-noon: Elizabeth Law – The Hook’s the Thing: Getting an agent or editor—or reader— to pay attention to your book.


Noon-1:00 PM: Lunch


1:00-2:00 PM: Hannah Milton – Characters, Archetypes, and Tropes: Building the Perfect Cast.


2:00-2:15 PM: Break


2:15-3:30 PM: Joyce Sweeney – Voice Lessons: Polishing Your Language Till It Shines.


3:30-5:00 PM: First Page Critiques, Q&A, and wrapping it all up!



  • Bring a copy of your WIP you can edit, tear apart, and play with.
  • Bring a first page without your name (12 pt., double-spaced, begin at the top of the page) for possible First Page critique.
