CALLING ALL FIRST BOOK AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS
Seasons Greetings from Your SCBWI-FL Team!
Temperatures have dipped into the upper 70s, which means Florida’s version of winter is almost here. Of course this also means that the annual SCBWI Florida Regional Conference (virtual) is just around the corner! Our theme this year is: FINDING YOUR PLACE IN KIDLIT–and Leaving Space for Others. In addition to providing a fabulous lineup of speakers and guests, we will continue our tradition of celebrating our Florida-based writers and illustrators whose very first books were released this year.
Like many things these days, the First Books Panel will look a bit different than it has in previous years. We would like you to record and submit a brief video about your book. You can talk about your inspiration, writing process, experiences along the way, challenges you overcame, awards and accolades your book may have received, people you wish to acknowledge, or anything else pertaining to the book you would like to share. Feel free to dress up or get creative. That said, we do request that the videos follow these guidelines:
* Please keep your video length to approximately 1-2 minutes (not to exceed 2 minutes).
* Please keep the tone and message positive. Please do not use your video as an opportunity to sell books or to make political statements.
* Please save your file in an easily shareable and editable format (preferably MP4 or M4V) to the following folder:
* Please submit your video no later than JANUARY 8 to allow sufficient time to edit them together.
If you have any questions about how to record, save, or share your video, please reach out to Jason at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing your stories and celebrating your successes!
