The Wednesday Group—Palm Beach Gardens

What to bring to meetings:   We ask those interested in joining us to wait until their second meeting to share (read) work. This gives one an opportunity to observe our critique style and etiquette.

Focus/Genres: We are a group of published and unpublished writers and illustrators who specialize in creating stories, poems, and articles for children (we don’t read work written for adults). Our goal is to share and receive honest, constructive criticism in a positive, supportive atmosphere. We seek those who are serious about their craft.

West Palm Beach SCBWI Critique Group

Focus/Genres:  Our members range from those who are inexperienced in writing/illustrating to those who have many books published.  We meet to critique members’ work in all children’s genres, Picture Book to YA.  We also share publishing news and workshop opportunities.

What to bring to meetings: A digital or hard copy of the previously submitted manuscript, illustrations, etc. so that you may follow along as the group discusses their thoughts, as well as any note-taking tools you may wish to bring

What to bring to meetings: Submit five pages or less of manuscript by e-mail at least three days before the meeting, so that members can read in advance. Bring hard copies the day of the meeting, and be ready to discuss.

Focus/Genres: We focus on Picture books.


West Boca Critique Group

What to bring to meetings: one picture book or up to 10 double spaced pages of a chapter book, MG, or YA and enough copies for everyone.

Focus: The focus covers all kidlit, from picture books through YA, and includes illustrators, too. Besides critiques, we also share market info and celebrate good news.
